Well, Studio Sirah founder Abhaas Shah founded this gaming studio in 2020 along with his brother, Prateek Shah. This studio is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Abhaas Shah completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Berkeley. Prateek Shah is the co-founder and the chief cyborg. He completed his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Georgia Institute of India and also did a post-diploma in management.

For Studio Sirah, Abhaas Shah left his plush job at Bain and that’s when he reconnected with his brother and cherished those fond memories of childhood when they both used to play games. They both were passionate about gaming. However, they were a little disappointed with hyper-casual games with Western ideologies. That’s when the realisation hit them that there were many opportunities to bring core Indian content into the gaming industry.

That’s when they started their entrepreneurial journey from crafting a game and then testing it with the Indian players and then launching it after receiving the funding and investment from the Lumikai and our superb set of angel investors.

Studio Sirah Kurukshetra Game adding mythology to Indian Games

Kurukshetra is a land filled with history and mythology. The historic battle of Mahabharata took place between the Pandavas and the Kauravas. It is also the land where Lord Krishna preached Arjun about the Bhagwat Gita.

Mahabharata has been adapted into movies and TV series and we are always enamoured by it. However, today’s generation is still in the learning phase about these epic stories. To bridge that gap between old and Genz, Studio Sirah came up with the idea of creating a game that revolves around the Kurukshetra battlefield.

This Kurukshetra game is the breakthrough for Studio Sirah. They are developing this Kurukshetra game which is an epic strategy card battle game that is available on Steam, mobile and ioS. This game features iconic heroes from the Mahabharata and the best hero of this game is Arjuna, who is the divine archer in this game.

Players can choose from a variety of mythological characters in the game. From the very beginning of the game, players get the option to choose the hero with whom they would like to continue their journey. Players can choose from five prospective characters namely, Arjuna, Duryodhana, Bheem, Surpankha, and Bhishma

Developing the Kurukshetra game is like instilling historical knowledge among the kids and Genz through the medium of this game. The Kurukshetra game by Studio Sirah is an evolution that will change the future of Indian gaming.

Studio Sirah Funding

Studio Sirah is at its peak and has caught many eyeballs for its unique games that depict Indian folklore and epics. They are making Indian history a virtual reality that makes the historical content look glorious and powerful. The glorified historical and mythological content in the Kurukshetra game is the main highlight that is enough to leave a huge impact on the gamers.

Impressed with this idea, in 2021, Studio Sirah raised $830,000 for its mid-core, India-first mobile games. India-focused game venture capital fund Lumikai led the round. Studio Sirah used those funds to develop their first game Kurukshetra: Ascension, a card battler game inspired by the 5,000-year-old epic myths of India.

The Kurukshetra game was released in February 2022 and has become a popular game among Indian gamers, with many positive reviews on the Google Play Store. Recently, they won the User’s Choice Best Indie Game for Google Play Best of this year.
