There is no doubt that FabAlley is a super amazing brand but who created such an amazing and affordable brand that is making every woman feel fab? Well! Mad4India has the answer.

Founders of FabAlley

FabAlley was founded in 2012 by two young women, Tanvi Malik and Shivani Poddar. This brand represents the beautiful and innovative vision of these two young women. With the intention of empowering women to be themselves, realise their aspirations, and dress how they want. Tanvi Malik and Shivani Poddar also own the Indian fashion label “House of Indya” in addition to FabAlley.

Tanvi Malik Story of Success

Tanvi Malik is an Economics graduate from Lady Shri Ram College and she also has an MBA degree in Brand Management from MICA Ahmedabad. Tanvi always desired to start her own business as she has a keen interest in branding and marketing. Following her interests, she worked at Titan as the Brand and product manager. Later she and her friend, Shivani Poddar both left their 9-5 corporate jobs to start their dream project.

While working 9-5 jobs, Tanvi Malik and her friend realised that there were limited and expensive fashion choices for those women who are young, fashionable professionals who live on a monthly tight budget. So, These two friends decided to evolve a brand that gives many fashionable options to professional young women at an affordable price.

To get more clarity on their idea, Tanvi and Shivani conducted a survey with 500 women of age groups ranging from 21-25 and 26-30. With the survey result, they both understood that most of the women were in the same boat as there was a lack of fashionable brands or shops that could keep up with global trends and yet be affordable.

Taking little steps and overcoming the obstacles

The journey of establishing FabAlley wasn’t the calk walk as neither Tanvi nor Shivani has no knowledge or experience in the fashion world. For the first six months, they operated the work from the 100-square-feet room and they did everything on their own.

They both were so new to this world that even the investors also doubted their ability but they didn’t give up and kept moving forward. From collaborating with an agency to build up the platform to mastering Photoshop, they did it all themselves. Tanvi Malik handled the design, marketing and overall communication for the brand including the consumer experience and Shivani managed the finances, sales and supply chain.

FabAlley was their first brand and they did not have a big team as they worked diligently with barely 2-3 employees and launched their website. This is how Tanvi Malik with her co-founder established the first Western and fashionable Indian brand that is now competing the global brands such as Zara and H&M in their trendiness and fast fashion.

Creating a Sustainable Brand

Tanvi Malik and Shivani Poddar have made FabAlley a sustainable brand as they acknowledge that there is a lot of fabric wastage that is not environmentally friendly. However, steps have been taken to reduce that wastage as 15-18% of fabric used in FabAlley is recyclable. Also, the packaging of the products is completely recyclable. This company is associated with various NGOs that help unprivileged women.

Employees and Indya customers will be encouraged to contribute stuff they no longer use, which will be exhibited in stores where impoverished women planning weddings can pick up free bridal trousseau items. This will also help to recycle the products rather than create waste.

Tanvi Malik Net Worth

FabAlley is now a household name, but in the first two years, it was bootstrapped as both the founders invested their personal savings to make this company work. But the present estimated net worth of FabAlley is around 240 Crores.

With the creation of such a demanding and global brand, Tanvi Malik and Shivani Podder have proved that women are capable of achieving infinite success and that women are the other women’s biggest supporters. Their story is an inspiration for those women and friends who have great ideas but lack the zeal to conquer them.

We at Mad4india are proud of these two powerhouse women who are empowering women to be themselves and conquer their dreams. To know more about Tanvi Malik, You can check out her Instagram.
