“Sometimes our waste is someone’s treasure.”
Daanpatra Foundation
Whenever we go to a temple, we see a “Daanpatra,” where we only donate money with the prayer of happiness. But where that money goes? It is still a query that has no certain answer. But what if I tell you that there is a place where your “DAAN” will surely bring a meaningful and valuable change in someone’s life?
It’s not important that “Daan” should be money only. The things that are old and wasteful for you are more than enough for somebody else.
The “Daanpatra Foundation” is an organisation founded by Yash Gupta where our donations turn out the blessings for those slum people who are only surviving their lives instead of living them to the fullest. There are slum kids who don’t celebrate their birthdays for years and there are families whose houses are not lightened up during the festive season.
But Yash Gupta is determined to bring happiness to their lives. Along with his team, Yash celebrates the birthdays of slum kids and also distributes gifts to them. With the various festivals’ mission, his foundation gives a moment of celebration to such underprivileged families.
And to complete their initiative, this Daanpatra Foundation is reusing our old and unused items, which not only help people but indirectly sustain our mother Earth too.
Seeds of “Daanpatra Foundation”
An unforgettable memory for Yash Gupta was when he encountered a seven-year-old boy who was working in a garage and earning Rs.70 weekly to take care of his siblings and grandmother. Despite his poverty and hardships, that little kid has the zeal to live a life and provide for his family without any complaints. After witnessing that kid, Yash was moved by the whirls of emotions. This experience inspired Yash to help the people who are living underprivileged lives without any complaints.
So, Yash decided to give these people a reason to smile and live a wonderful life with all of their basic requirements met. That is how the Daanpatra Foundation was founded on 10 March 2018 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. With the goal of serving people and spreading happiness, this foundation is helping the needy people by completing their basic necessities in a unique way.
Daanpatra Foundation collects the old and unused things that people throw away when they no longer use them.. Then this foundation revives those old items by repairing them and providing much-needed service to those things. Instead of letting people throw away those recyclable and reusable items, Daanpatra collects them and gives them away to the needy and streetside people for free.
Helping Someone is the most Valuable Daan
The founder of Daanpatra Foundation, Yash Gupta firmly believes that helping someone in need is the most valuable and purest daan. Even the smallest help can bring the biggest change in the lives of those people who are hidden in the marginalised corner of the world.
The journey of the Daanpatra Foundation was started by Yash with a small deed of collecting things from the local people of his own society which later on turned into the whole initiative. The journey wasn’t easy to start with. People didn’t support Yash by saying “How these useless and waste things can change people’s lives? They doubted his idea and his ability. In a world where everything is done for a selfish reason, any selfless action is meant to be doubted.
But standing strong, Yash developed the support for Daanpatra Foundation through social media where they proved the authenticity of their foundation by posting photos and reels of them helping the people in need. Daanpatra Foundation’s social media presence is now above 140k which means thousands of people including international supporters from America and East India are joining and supporting their initiative.
The Evergrowing Team of Daanpatra Foundation
The Daanpatra Foundation is moving forward and the number of members connected to it in India is 35000 and counting. This foundation has helped more than 3,500,000 needy and underprivileged kids and families. They are working in more than 10 states of India joined by more than 1 lakh people.
The Daanpatra Foundation is helping people and providing care to small street kids. They also conduct classes to give basic education to the slum kids. They are also empowering women by conducting workshops. Along with it, they are helping homeless and abandoned people by aiding them with proper care and treatment.
Donate Joy with Daanpatra Foundation
Daanpatra Foundation is sharing joy and spreading its wings as many people are getting inspired and started collecting things from their societies and donating to them. Also, the Daanpatra Foundation has also launched its application to make the whole donation process easy as one can fill in their details on the app and the members of the foundation will come to take all the items that are for donation.
During the festive season, the Daanpatra Foundation provides new clothes, gifts and toys to families. In their Diwali mission, they helped over 10 lakh people celebrate their festivals with happiness. There are various missions such as “Thand se Rahat”, “Independence Day Mission” and “Covid Relief Mission.”
This is how the Daanpatra Foundation brightens the lives of those who are impoverished. Even this foundation brings families together since they have assisted many lost children and elderly persons in reuniting with their relatives.
Take out sometime to help people
The founder of the Daanpatra Foundation has only one message: use the time to work and help others selflessly. He advises people to fulfil all of their hopes and desires while also showing empathy for other people and the environment by donating reusable and recyclable items to those in need.
