Who is Dinesh MN?

Dinesh MN is an Indian Police Services (IPS) officer, currently serving as the Additional Director General of Police in the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Rajasthan. Born on September September 1971 in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka, India, Dinesh completed his bachelor’s in engineering from Karnataka. Dinesh’s father was a tehsildar in Bangalore and his mother was a homemaker. Born with big dreams and high potential, Dinesh MN began his IPS preparation at a low-key stage with not much money available for his studies.

Finally, after years of continuous struggle, Dinesh MN cleared UPSC and became an IPS officer in 1995. His honesty and bravery were the most satisfying key features as a great IPS officer. However, getting a stable and dream job in life was not the end of his struggles. He was the most renowned IPS officer but an unfortunate one too. Life took unexpected turns for him when he was jailed for 7 years straight for something he did not do.

Why did he spend 7 years in jail?

Sohrabuddin Sheikh was a criminal accused of several crimes in Gujarat. From arms smuggling in Madhya Pradesh to multiple murders across Gujarat and Rajasthan, Sohrabuddin was the most wanted face for the whole nation in 2005. He was even claimed to be associated with the banned global terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba of Pakistan.

Suspiciously, Sohrabuddin and his wife were killed in a ‘police encounter’. After the incident, his brother wrote to the Chief Justice of India, claiming that it was a murder with police involvement. Dinesh did not think for a moment while going against an IAS officer and got all the culprits arrested. This case marked his courage and bravery and he is known as a fearless man in Rajasthan.
