India is fighting the coronavirus strain with all its strength. Many startups and people are trying their best to deal with the worsening situation. One of the biggest problems the country faces is the lack of testing and healthcare facilities.
Mylab PathoDetect COVID-19 Qualitative PCR Kit
Recently, a Pune-based startup, Mylab Discovery Solutions, started working on various innovative solutions. Last year the company launched the ‘Mylab PathoDetect COVID-19 Qualitative PCR kit.’ It became the first kit to receive approval from Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation. The startup received approval for the commercial production of the testing kit in March 2020. Since then, the startup has partnered with AP Globale Chairman Abhijit Pawar and Serum India CEO Adar Poonawalla to increase the production of the kit.
Testing and Innovation of Other Tests
Initially, with the introduction of the kit, the startup was conducting 10,000 tests per day. Now they conduct approximately 6-7 lakh tests in a day. Mylab Discovery Solutions has also launched Pathocatch COVID-19 Antigen Rapid testing kit. They have also introduced a Compact XL. It is a machine that automates the manual processes of molecular diagnostic tests including COVID-19 RT-PCR tests.
Mobile Testing Labs
The number of people getting infected by coronavirus has increased in the second wave. Mylab Discovery Solutions introduced the ‘mobile testing labs’ in various parts of the country to better deal with the situation. The MD of the startup, Mr. Hasmukh Rawal, said, “We have been working on the development of the testing vans for various months. The vans will help us conduct thousands of tests every day.”
The plan is to develop 50 NABL certified and IMCR approved vans. The mobile vans can be parked anywhere. Every van can conduct 1000 tests per day. The mobile vans are powered by a Compact XL automating machine.
Quality Maintenance and Other Plans
The startup has paid a lot of attention to the quality of the kits and machines while developing it. The startup is constantly working on different solutions to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and help people.
