Maharishi Ayurveda

We all know Ayurveda as the mother of all healing systems. It is effective in curing various human diseases and ailments. Ayurveda was taught orally for thousands of years. The knowledge of Ayurveda has passed down through generations.

Maharishi Ayurveda is one such entity that is working for the betterment of society by healing people mentally and physically.

Early Years

Anand Shrivastava, a firm believer of Ayurveda, opened up an Ayurvedic company known by the name of ‘Maharishi Ayurveda.’

It all started when Anand completed his graduation and visited Maharishi Ashram in Rishikesh. He took training as a Transcendental teacher. After completing his training, he stayed at the ashram and taught as a volunteer.

The simple lifestyle and peaceful environment made him happy. For several years, he worked hard under the guidance of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He even accompanied Maharishi Ji on various international trips

Establishing Maharishi Ayurveda

Anand was convinced that Ayurveda would be beneficial for society. Maharishi often used to tell him that “the modern medicine system manages the symptoms of the disease. It does not cure it completely. Ayurveda has the potential to eliminate the disease from society.”

The Ayurvedic medicines availability was limited till a few decades back. Anand took it to a higher level and introduced the power of Ayurveda to the world.

Quality Maintenance

Maharishi gave his blessings and permission to Anand for the new start-up. Anand said in one of his interviews that “Initially, the ingredients used weren’t of excellent quality. When Maharishi came to know about this, he scolded the entire team for this. Since that day, we use top quality raw materials irrespective of their price.”

A dedicated team of doctors is now responsible for ensuring the quality of the products and  medicines.

Challenges faced by Anand

One of the biggest challenges was to gather funds for the company. Fortunately, during international trips with Maharishi, Anand had made many friends abroad. His friends and acquaintances provided him the required financial help to fund his startup.

Also, buying herbs from farmers was difficult. The farmers were spread all across the country and they were not using organic ways for farming. To deal with this challenge, he established contact with the farmers and trained them in organic farming.

Introductory Products by Maharishi Ayurveda

The first manufacturing plant was set up in SEZ Noida. Currently, it caters to the international market. Later, factories were also set up to cater to the needs of the Indian market.

They set one factory up in Faridabad, and the second in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. In the beginning, the company launched 20 products like Chyavanprash, medicines for stress and anxiety, Glucomap for anxiety, Amrit Kailash for stress and anxiety, and Asthomap for respiratory problems.

The company earns more profit from exports and Amrit Kailash is one of their most selling product.

Future Plans

In the year 2020, the yearly turnover of the company was around 75 crores. The company exports its products to Europe, Australia, the US, and other international markets. The vision is to establish more nodule centers to train farmers in organic farming.

The company’s aim is to launch more products. In India, the benefits of Ayurveda have always been undermined. The company wants to reach out to the Indian audience and make the products accessible to everyone.
