Pratap Chandra Sarangi is a Politician in Balasore, Odisha (Orrisa). He was a Minister of State in Government of India, for Small and Medium enterprises & Animal Husbandry; dairying, fisheries. Pratap Chandra Sarangi is currently working as a National Executive member of the BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party). He has changed many lives with his revolutionary ideas. Belonging from a poor and rural area doesn’t stop him from doing wonderful and kind acts.

The Early Stages Of His Life
Born in Village Gopinathpur, Nilgiri in 1955, Pratap Chandra Sarangi comes from a Brahmin family. As a kid, he wanted to be a monk. He completed his bachelor’s degree from Utkal University.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi was always a spiritual seeker, he also went to Ramakrishna Math situated in Beluru. There the monks got to know about him and they learned that sarangi’s widowed mother, old in age, lived alone at home. The monks told Sarangi to go back to his village and take care of her mother.

Promotions In Auto Rickshaw To Opening Schools For The Poor
When Sarangi went back to his village, he started doing social welfare acts. His kindness and spirituality have grown with time. He also opened many schools for poor children under the Gana Shiksha Mandir Yojana, which was called Samar Kara Kendra, in Balasore and Mayurbhanj.

Sarangi also initiated a very innovative concept of community funding for single teacher schools (or Ekal Vidalya). Apart from these, he had done many other good deeds for the poor people.

How He Became ‘The Hero Minister’
In the beginning, Pratap Chandra Sarangi worked in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as a district-level volunteer. Sarangi also worked for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. A major part of his life is his job as a Head Clerk in Nilgiri College, Balasore, Odisha. He competed and lost in the Indian general election in the 2014 Lok Sabha constituency as a BJP candidate, from Balasore. He stood in the Indian general election 2019 again and won over the Biju Janata Dal candidate and Rabindra Kumar Jena, by a heavy margin of votes.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi became Minister of State for Small and Medium Enterprises, Micro and Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries. Sarangi got his fame overnight around the end of May in the year 2019 when the Lok Sabha results were declared and he won. And that is because, interestingly, he didn’t spend any money on his campaign for elections, plus, he didn’t have any car for campaigning. Sarangi used his bicycle for the campaign. In contrast, the other competitors were so rich, which gives them higher chances to win but people chose his selfless service rather than the others.

Minister In A Mud House
Pratap Chandra Sarangi is a man of good deeds. He lives in a small, old-style mud house and owns a bicycle. According to the position he works in, he could easily buy cars and a house & live a luxurious life, instead of that, he chooses a simple lifestyle.
