Jahnavi Dangeti becomes the first Indian to complete the NASA program

In the many firsts of 2021, one more name adds to the list. Jahnavi Dangeti becomes the first Indian to complete the NASA International Air and Space Program (IASP) at the NASA Launch Operations’ Kennedy Space Centre in Alabama, USA. 

An aspiring astronaut, she has always been intrigued by the mysteries of the universe. Since childhood, Jahnavi Dangeti was always keen to know about distant planets and space. 

With new technology evolving and fathoms to travel in space is more than just a curiosity, this girl has made the nation proud by completing the prestigious NASA program. 

With new dreams and aspirations, Mad4India brings a story of Jahnavi Dangeti, who created history by completing the International Air and Space Program (IASP). 

Jahnavi Dangeti is a second-year engineering student of B.Tech ECE (Hons) from Lovely Professional University. 

Jahnvai has become the first Indian to complete the entire astronaut program at Kennedy Space Centre in Alabama. Hailing from Palakollu of Andhra Pradesh, she is making new records. 

The International Air & Space Program selects only a handful of people from all over the world. It was a five-day educational program involving activities such as zero gravity, multi-access training, and an underwater launch. 

Jahnavi Dangeti also piloted an aircraft Cessna 172, as a part of her training for the first time. She was mentored by a retired NASA astronaut Kenneth D. Cameron. 

During the training program at the Kennedy Space Center, she was appointed as the Mission Director leading a team of 16 people. With the efforts of the teamwork, they launched and landed a miniature rocket in the sky. 

With her determination and initiative, she has made everything possible that is required for her. 

Jahnavi Dangeti has been the campus ambassador for numerous organizations. She is the campus ambassador of STAR ( Space Technology and Aeronautical Rocketry), an Indian private aerospace company. 

She is also a member of IOAA- International Organization of Aspiring Astronauts.

Jahnavi Dangeti is also the vice-president of Space Magica, an astronaut startup training center for students and the public. Jahnavi Dangeti has gotten a scholarship from a Mexican company for the International Air and Space Program (IASP). 

According to the Indian Book of Records, Jahnavi Dangeti is a record holder for being a multi-talented girl. 

To reach her dreams, she is trying everything and availing every opportunity. She has participated in various projects and workshops. She has analyzed images caught by the Pan-STARRS satellite to learn about unexposed asteroids. While in the training program Jahnavi Dangeti and his group of 16 members made discoveries. 

Jahnavi Dangeti is a bright student. She participated in the fall edition of the NASA program launched at the NASA Launch Operations’ Kennedy Space Centre in Alabama, USA. The program was for high, middle school, and university students. The NASA IASP was a five-day educational program from 14th-20th November. 

The program has strict admissions, where 60 students across the world are selected as a part of the training program. 

Jahnavi Dangeti becomes the first Indian, hailing from Palakollu, in West Godavari of Andhra Pradesh, creating history for many young minds. 

Jahnavi Dangeti also mentions that her dream is to be one of the first Indians to set foot on Mars. 

Her grandmother read her bedtime stories that sparked her interest further to know more about planets and galaxies.  

Jahnavi Dangeti is in her second year of engineering at Lovely Professional University. She has participated in various workshops and activities in ISRO, NASA, and other space agencies. 

Jahnavi Dangeti indeed created history by becoming the first Indian to complete the NASA International Air and Space Program and made the nation proud.
