The Reason Behind Starting the Feed Them Movement

Sana had to shift to Mumbai in 2012 and little did she know that life was changing for the better and she was about to bring about a change herself and work for the betterment of society. The shine and glitter of the society did not blind her, rather made her look past it.

She came across little children roaming around on the streets with a starving stomach and eyes filled with the hope of someone helping them. The sight was even more painful than it sounds. Sana noticed it every day while she was on her way to work.

She saw those little kids begging and pointing at their stomachs to make people understand they are hungry. The sight disturbed Sana, and that’s when she knew she had to do something for these underprivileged kids. She wondered how some people wasted their food taking advantage of their privilege, whereas some people were on the roads begging for the same. The thought is heartbreaking and so is the sight.

Frontline Worker in Times of Need

If not anything else, Sana Arora deserves a round of applause, a bow, and some support from each one of us for doing what she has been doing. Soon she started collecting leftover or extra food from home and gave it to these homeless families. There were over 150 people cluttered under the bridge, so the food Sana had arranged wasn’t enough.

She sought help from her neighbors but they were hesitant initially but joined hands after the news gained popularity. Few people also supported her by providing fresh-cooked meals. Being happy with the immense success and support she received, she knew it was a call for her to work for the betterment of society.

Soon after, when she had connected with the recipients, she realized that their idea of meals was comparatively different. Being the thoughtful human she is, Sana Arora realized that providing them with a ration would be more beneficial as it would help them plan their meals accordingly.

The Feed’em Movement – The Success Story of Sana Arora’s NGO

Sana Arora started this NGO in 2017, which officially recognized her cause and purpose of work. She started reaching out to her networks and spreading awareness through social media. She also joined several service societies for crowdfunding to attain her goal.

They serve the underprivileged ones with a ration that includes packs of rice, pulses, flour, oil, salt, and several other ingredients. The communities they serve are the shelter homes, homeless families, slums, where they give out ration to the poor, the disabled, and the widows above 60, and night schools.

To increase attendance at school they have also started an Attendance Reward Program at the night schools which focuses on giving ration to the child with the highest attendance.

This hardworking and compassionate woman has successfully balanced both her corporate job and the NGO. She has carried out over 100 drives and fed the hungry stomachs of about 1 lakh underprivileged people in the last 4 years.

She is a blessing to society and I can’t stress enough how thoughtful Sana is. Not just us, many families out there are grateful to know that someone like Sana Arora exists. Hence I conclude by saying that nothing has the power to derail this unstoppable woman.
