With the advancement of technology, so much has changed. So many unfortunate elements have found a comfortable place in our lives, one such thing is chemicals. Be it our food or the clothes we wear, nothing is chemical free. But the most damaging thing, that we now consider prime, is the chemicals we use in our hygiene.

From early morning facewash to dinner dishwashers, everything we use is like ‘the daily dose of chemicals’. And it feels impossible to get a chemical-free wash. Most of us have made peace with it, considering that some chemicals are okay to adjust. But it was not okay for Manas Nanda to adjust these actinic.

While everyone else was busy criticizing the overflowing lake Bellandur in Bangalore, newspaper headlines were highlighting the white slush and the damage rain has caused that year. This young man was thinking deeper than the surface. He realized that the white slush is nothing but the detergent foam that we use each day to find their way down to the sewage. He was giving it a real thought as to ‘ how horrible this white slush can be for those who use it?’.

While we ignore the fact that each day our skin deals so much just because we are not stubborn enough to have a chemical-free life. Manas was not ignorant of it he started his research on eradicating the use of chemicals from our daily cleaning products.

The Bubble-nut Wash Came Into Existence For A Chemical Free Lifestyle

Back then Manas was working as an investment analyst after he graduated from IIT-BHU, the seed of having a chemical-free life became a tree in his thoughts.  Manas decided to jump off the cliff; he risked it all and left his job. He joined an NGO where he managed rural projects such as training farmers in chemical-free farming and promoting clean energy.

It was in the jungle of Karnataka he found his magic product, the soap nut. In the year 2016, THE BUBBLE NUT WASH CAME INTO EXISTENCE FOR A CHEMICAL FREE LIFESTYLE.

‘Soapnut’, a wild fruit whose shell holds a natural cleaning agent. Soapnut is sufficient in saponins. The Soapnuts have adequate properties to be used as a natural detergent replacement.

Bubble nut wash was introduced in the market with the agenda to reduce the daily dose of chemicals in our life. This brand of cruelty-free vegan ethics is providing for a better means of earning for the tribes of Uttrakhand, Karnataka, and Odisha. Giving an identity to the socio-phobic tribes of India who were still lost in the jungles.

These tribes have found a way to earn money in the comfort of their homeland.  Bubble nut wash has utilized the natural fruit which was nothing but just firewood.

The tribes are very hesitant to interact with outsiders, let alone work for them. We took help from the government to get in touch with these tribal groups that were already formed, and with time gained their trust. We give them three times the price that traditional traders give them,” says Nanda in an interview with Forbes India.

Bubblenut wash is now a thriving company, primarily producing chemical-free shampoo, chemical-free soap, laundry detergents, chemical-free dish-wash, chemical-free floor cleaner, chemical-free hand-wash, chemical-free multi-purpose spray cleaner, and a chemical-free food and veggie wash. the company has targetted both online as well as offline markets, majorly being sold in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Banglore.

Each soapnut tree can give a yield of Rs 1500–2000 to an individual. If a farmer owns just a handful of soapnuts in his backyard he can earn up to Rs. 8000–10,000/- a year without much effort.

The idea was to create a financially sustainable model to commercialize these unharvested fruits and vegetables that could be useful for the urban market while creating a living for the tribal communities. There is an immense supply of soapnuts in about 26 states in India and these were all untapped markets,” says the 34-year-old founder and CEO of Bubble-nut Wash.

The road is rocky and still under construction, the market is not short of competitors, and people are still not well aware of the product but who said about stopping. Manas has learned so much in his journey of creating a chemical-free cleaning. Bubble nut wash is empowering those who had very little hope with this berry. Touching scales doesn’t seem like the only target of this Indian innovator, touching souls is important as well.

Things That Matter

Over an interview of ‘your story’ manas shared a story of pure bliss –

One farmer told me he had planted a few soapnut trees in his backyard in 1983 on his brother’s recommendation and vision that there will be a time when the world would know the value of this special fruit. The farmer never bothered to collect soapnuts in the last 30 years. When I asked him if he could sell some to us, he said emotionally that his elder brother’s foresight had been proven right. It was extremely special to know that we’re making a difference in these underserved farmer communities.”

The bubble nut wash is moving with full force in the direction of a better tomorrow, continuously removing all hurdles on the way, repeatedly taking steps toward a chemical-free wash, and then to a chemical-free life. India is filled with people who have solutions to all the problems and that is why we say, we are Mad4India.
