We all have dreams which we wish could come true. Dreams only come true when one works hard to achieve goals. Adil Teli, a young man, traveled from Kashmir to Kanyakumari within 8 days. He covered the large distance within the shortest time period and made a world record.
Applying for Guinness World Record
Adil belongs to Narbal, a small place in the Budgam district of Kashmir. Since he started cycling professionally, he always dreamt of achieving a world record in cycling. He wished to travel from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in the shortest period.
In the year 2016, he cycled for 26 hours from Kashmir to Leh. The journey made him believe in his capabilities. He finished his graduation and applied for the Guinness world record. Adil’s application got accepted.
Searching for Sponsors
Adil moved to Amritsar and practiced for over 5 months. After his training, Adil started looking for a sponsor that could provide help during the journey. Initially, it proved to be difficult to find a sponsor. Adil did not let the setback demotivate him. He kept searching for a sponsor. Finally, Abraq Agro, a storage facility company, agreed to sponsor him.
Members of Sponsor Team
A team of eight members accompanied Adil on his journey. The team included a cameraman, a nutritionist, a mechanic, and also a physiotherapist. The team was very supportive during the journey and further motivated Adil to work harder.
Beginning the Journey
The journey began on 22 March 2021. He started his journey from Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk. It is a famous destination in Kashmir. My parents came to bid me farewell for my journey, and their eyes were filled with tears of pride.
The Divisional commissioner flagged off his journey at 7:30 a.m. Adil completed his journey on 30 March 2021. During his journey, he covered 3600 kilometers in 8 days, one hour, and 37 minutes. He reached Kanyakumari at 9 a.m.
Daily Routine During the Journey
Adil covered many prominent places in India. He pedaled for approximately 20 hours on a daily basis. During his physiotherapy sessions, he used to take power naps instead of sleeping. Adil pedaled more and rested less through the entire journey. The thought of his parents and his dream kept him motivated throughout the entire journey.
Challenges Faced During the Journey
Adil faced many challenges as well. Riding in hot and humid weather was difficult. Adil belongs to Kashmir, where the weather is usually cold or pleasant. Even during his training, he trained in places with moderate weather.
To deal with this challenge, Adil tried to travel more during night time. He preferred resting in the morning and afternoon. He suffered from intolerable pain and swelling. The desire to make his parents proud kept him going and motivated him.
Goal Achievement and Hard Work
When he finally reached his destination, his happiness knew no bounds. He realized that hard work always pays off. If you have decided to do something and work hard for it, then nothing is impossible. Adil’s motivational story is an inspiration for many people.
