Pankaj Tripathi has a very beautiful and inspiring life journey, that tells us that if willing, a person can do anything in his life. so, how did all of this begin? From being born and raised in a small village like Belsand, Bihar, To being such an amazing and famous actor in Bollywood, Pankaj Tripathi led a life full of struggle and hard work to make his dreams come true.
Beginning Of The Inspirational Journey
Born on September 5, 1976, Pankaj Tripathi was raised in a middle-class Brahmin family. He was bought up in Belsand village, Gopalganj, Bihar. Both of his parents, Pandit Benaras Tripathi and Hemanti Devi were small farmers. When Pankaj was a small kid, he used to enjoy nature a lot. In addition to this, he loved to swim in a river located near his house. The reason behind this was his house didn’t have an electricity connection, so he was unable to watch television. When Pankaj Tripathi turned twelve, he started performing in theater shows that took place after the chhath festival in his village. At that time he liked acting, but he didn’t want to become an actor.
Early And Higher Education
Being a farmer, Pankaj Tripathi’s father wanted to purchase a tractor, But he could not afford it. He wanted his son to become a doctor and focus on his education. He convinced him so that they could improve their financial conditions. In an interview, he said that if his father would have bought a tractor, he would have become a farmer too, just like his father. Pankaj went to a Hindi medium school in his village. He was an average kid, but very good at high jumping plus sprinting 100 meters.
He moved to Patna for his higher education in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB). He tried twice but couldn’t pass the entrance exam, so he dropped his idea.
When He Said ‘Yes To Drama’
Manoj Bajpayee who is a famous actor, came from a small village, Belwa. He became an inspiration for Pankaj Tripathi. He used to read about actors like Anupam Kher and Om Puri who attended the National School of Drama (NSD). This motivated him to study at NSD and become an actor. He struggled a lot to get into NSD because is graduation minimum educational qualification required to get into NSD. Pankaj Tripathi had an IHM (Institute of Hotel Management) course which was not considered as graduation. Pankaj was admitted to a graduation course, which he completed in three years. Then he applied into NSD twice and was successful in the third attempt.
Moving to Mumbai
Pankaj Tripathi with his wife, Mridula moved to Mumbai in 2004. Mukesh Chhabra, a well-known director who got to know about Pankaj Tripathi asked Anurag Kashyap to give him a chance in the movie Gangs of Wasseypur. Before this he never got a good chance, but after this movie, he got a breakthrough and established a name for himself.
Initially, Pankaj Tripathi didn’t get many chances in the films, that’s why he started to play roles in T.V. serials, advertisements, etc, in which he got rejected a few times in the start. No matter how many times he got rejected or disappointed, he never gave up on his dream. He used to play the police inspector roles in some television serials. His first advertisement was for Tata Tea. During his struggling days, Pankaj Tripathi decided to work as a construction laborer as a backup plan. But this never happened because his wife supported him financially and morally by securing a job in a school.
At first, he played a role in a Kannada film which was released on 2 October 2003 named, Chigurida Kanasu. After which his first movie in Bollywood, Run, was released on 14 May 2004.
Interesting and less-known facts about him
Pankaj Tripathi loves reading literature, farming and is a spiritual person. He traveled all over India on a cheap budget in trains. Pankaj Tripathi was a fan of Irrfan Khan, he used to copy his style, in his initial career, and afterward, he created his style. He is a foodie and his favorite destinations include, Meghalaya, Leh, Nubra Valley, and some places in Madhya Pradesh. His favorite films include Newton, Gurgaon, and his TV series, Mirzapur.
Family and Lifestyle
Pankaj Tripathi saw Mridula at a ceremony of his sister’s wedding and fell in love with her at the exact moment. At that time, Mridula lived in Kolkata and Pankaj Tripathi was studying at NSD, New Delhi. He occasionally visited her in Kolkata. Both of them tied knots on January 15, 2004. They have a beautiful daughter, her name is Aashi Tripathi. They are currently living on Madh Island.
