Sexual health

Sexual health is something that we have the limited knowledge about unlike physical health or mental health. The talk about sex and sexuality is often hushed and is still considered a taboo in Indian society. Lack of information leads to unwanted pregnancy, STIs and many more problems. Studies have shown that that those who have access to comprehensive sex education are more likely to delay having sex and practice safe sexual practices. This also reduces the risk to people’s safety and health. This taboo even causes people to shy away from buying contraceptives.

We have progressed a lot as a society and have accepted many concepts which seem unconventional to Indian society but there is still a long way to go for us to ensure a liberated future.

From the understanding of human reproductive system, the correct information about sexually transmitted infections to how to practice safe sex, there are so many questions that an average young Indian suffers with about sexual health and in this time of crisis, Internet proves to be the best friend and answers all our questions. Instagram is one social platform that is dominating the internet world and here are some sex educators are using their Instagram influence to create the much needed awareness.
