This city was incorporated in 2001 as the Vedic City and then officially changed its name to Maharishi Vedic City. The concept of Vedic was introduced to the West a long time ago, but people began to visualize it in 1991.
This city was established by the Vedicrishi in 2001 and the interesting fact is that the mayor of this city is the Britisher Roger Badgett, who handles all the responsibilities of this city.
Principles of “Maharishi Vedic City”
The fundamental purpose of creating Maharishi Vedic City is to sustain world peace and harmony. The city council has five members and serves as the governing body. Maharishi Vedic City was the first to use currency notes with the word “Raam” printed on them. These notes, like our Indian rupee notes, are available in yellow, blue, red, and green. These notes are distributed in 100 stores, 30 villages, and 30 towns. Although the World Bank does not acknowledge this currency, the residents of Maharishi Vedic City believe “Raam Currency” to be their sole currency.
Not only is the currency based on our Indian mythology but the ideal language of this town is “Sanskrit.” Although they use other languages too, such as English, Sanskrit holds the highest value.

The architecture of Maharishi Vedic City is based on a system of buildings called Maharishi Sthapatya Veda design architecture. All the houses and roads in this city are designed as per the Vastu of the area. According to the Maharishi Sthapatya Veda system, all the rooms are created according to the movement of the sun and moon.

Maharishi Vedic City is a meditation-themed city and meditation is the main practice of this city. Thousands of people in this city gather together twice daily at the Maharishi University of Management to practice transcendental meditation and yogic flying to promote peace and harmony in the world.
To keep their authenticity maintained, the people of this city completely reject the idea of non-organic food. They consume the proper organic food that they produce in their organic garden. The import of non-organic food is completely banned in Maharishi Vedic City.
