We don’t want to be a spoilsport but it’s time to have the conversation that we all have every year. ‘What it’s December! But January feels like yesterday. With the year 2021 coming to an end, we as a nation faced the wrath of emotions throughout the year. The year started with uncertainty about what the pandemic situation would be, followed up by having the biggest vaccination drive in the world. It’s been a rollercoaster ride of happiness, grief, and uncertainty. With all those emotions riled up the nation reaped some of the most inspiring stories as well.
The year 2021 saw several moments to celebrate as well as to feel sad about. But as they say, our purpose is to be happy. So why not take a quick flashback as to how eventful this year turned out.

Drdo’s Hemant Kumar was awarded the Scientist of the year award.
The year started with suspicion regarding fear of the virus and approval of vaccines from the institute. Well, the good news came from India when Hemant Kumar Pandey was conferred for his contributions for the past 25 years.
Senior Scientist Hemant Kumar was honored with Drdo’s ‘Scientist of the year’ for his contribution in creating herbal medicines, including a popular drug Lukosin. This drug is meant for the treatment of leucoderma.

Poulomi Shukla from UP features in FORBES 30 under 30 list
Lawyer and social worker from Lucknow headlined for her contribution towards providing education for orphan children in the nation. The 28-year-old began ‘ Adopt an orphanage ‘ which aims to provide stationary books tuition, smart TV, and other essentials. Shukla with her brother also wrote a book named ‘Weakest on Earth – Orphan of India’. MP Raghav Lakhanpal also mentioned it in the parliament.3.

Mahinder Giri becomes the first Asian to win the International Ranger award

A range officer providing services from motichur of Rajaji tiger reserve won the most prestigious International ranger award. The award was announced for 10 professionals across the world. She won the award for her role in curbing human-wildlife contact and also translocating Corbett tigers To Rtr. Other icons include people from Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

Karnataka Man makes a mask that grows into a plant when sown after use.
A Karnataka-based social entrepreneur Nitin Vas developed a unique idea to conserve the environment by using eco-friendly masks. The first layer of the mask is made up of cotton rags and the inner layer is lined. When these masks are thrown into the soil, plants will blossom. He further advised not to wash these masks. As it will get thawed.

Dr. Emmanuel from Hyderabad treats poor patients for just 10rs.
When the nation was seeing a surge in the second wave. Where patients cost lakhs of rupees for treatment. Dr. Emmanuel Victor from Hyderabad has been treating people for just 10rs from 2018. Dr. Victor provided them with home isolation and proper medications as well. Dr. Emmanuel has also been treating soldiers for free.

9 year old and 6 year old raised $4400 amid a covid surge in India
Two American Indian girls Aanya (9 years old)and Shyla (6 years old) hosted a bake sale to help India amidst the covid surge. Aanya with her baking skills roped in 6 Shyla to initiate a fundraiser. They collected $4400 by selling brownies, cupcakes, chip cookies, and chocolates

Abhimanyu Mishra becomes world’ youngest Grand Master
Abhimanyu Mishra became the youngest Grandmaster, breaking a 19-year-old record set by Grand Master Sergey Karjakin. The 12-year-old started playing chess at the age of 2 years 8 months and began to play in tournaments from 5 years of age. His next ambition is to be a world champion.

Neeraj’s shoulder brought gold to the nation.
87.58m a number that we Indians will remember for a lifetime. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra made history by winning the first-ever gold medal in athletics. The 23-year-old farmer’s son from Haryana stunned the Athletics world. India finished 48th which is its highest ranking in over four decades. Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Dhahiya, Pv Sindhu, Bajrang Punia, and Lovlina Borgohain were the other medalists that made the nation delighted.
9. Positive News from September
India’s best finish at Paralympic 2020 with 19 medals.
Indians weren’t over the heroics of Neeraj Chopra in the Tokyo Olympics but the players playing in the Paralympic rejoiced with the best season for the nation by far. India’s most successful Paralympic season with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze. Before this edition, India won 12 medals combined of all appearances.
The medal tally opened with Bhavina Patel while Avani Lekhra became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in the Paralympic. Then the likes of Singhraj Adhana, Harvinder Singh, and other medalists made the nation proud.

India administered the world record of 2.5 crore vaccines in a single day.
On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17th, India created a record milestone of governing vaccination for 25million citizens. The number is equal to the entire population of Australia and five times the population of New Zealand. The Prime Minister acknowledged the hard work of front-line workers, health workers, innovators for making the largest vaccination drive successful.

10. Positive News from October
An 11-year-old Nagpur Girl Einstein in the global IQ test.
Rucha Chandorkar, an 11-year-old from Nagpur became part of the top 1% of intelligent people on this planet. She scored a total of 162 in the Mensa IQ score. It is widely believed that Einstein had an IQ of 160. If that amazes you, hold on, we have more of it. Back in 2019, Rucha’s brother Akhilesh scored an IQ score of 160. For her, the whole preparation started in 2016. “When bhaiya scored 160, everyone from the media and family started visiting and featured in loads of newspapers. So I used to think that when I turned 11, I too would appear for the test.” She said in an interview. Well, the little girl not just beat Einstein but his older brother as well.

Rajkummar’s fans pledged to donate their eyes after the actor’s untimely death
Indian film superstar Puneeth Rajkummar died of a heart attack in Bangalore in October. It was later revealed that the actor had wielded the donation of his eyes, that could restore the eyes of four people. This moved his fans to come forward and donate. According to a clinic manager, “More than 7000 members have committed to eye donation since Rajkumar’s death.”
12. Positive News from December
Bill to increase marriage age for women referred to Parliamentary panel
Union Minister, Smriti Irani introduced the Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill 2021. The bill seeks to increase the legal minimum age for women to marry to 21 years. This brings a uniform age of marriage for both men and women. The Women and Child Development Minister also seek to override all the existing laws, including any custom, usage, or practice governing parties about marriage.
The year may not be universally delightful for everyone but there are few people that made sure that the world keeps changing for good.
