The Indian Startups ecosystem has come a long way. Currently, India ranks the 3rd country for the largest startup ecosystem in the world. Since 2018, the Indian startup has been booming, and it seems to continue its pace.  The phase of the Indian startups have pulled a long way,

India is home to hundreds of thousands of startups, where mostly on average years, they have regained a successful spectrum in the front. With creation and innovation, India is just behind China and U.S.A, ranking the 3rd in the startup ecosystem in the world. 

India celebrated its first Unicorn Club with the Indian startup InMobi in 2011. It was followed by the country’s indigenous e-commerce platform, Flipkart, in 2012. 

Since then, it’s no looking back. The Indian startup has gained momentum with so many startups over the years. 

Many Indian startups have entered the list of the Unicorn Club in 2021. Mad4India brings a list of the top 5 Indian startups that have produced unicorns. 

In business, a Unicorn means a privately held startup company is valued at over $1 billion.

CRED

CRED is an Indian fintech company founded in 2018 by Kunal Shah. One of the primary features of this application is that it is a reward-based credit card payment. It has introduced short-term credit lines, and users can make house rent payments. 

Several big names have placed their bets on CRED for their financial concerns, which allows users to reward bills by paying their credit card payments. CRED is also closing deals with BigBasket and Razorpay, including Visa, to develop their features. 

CRED is one of the Indian startups that has entered the Unicorn Club with a valuation of $2.2 billion.

Blinkit (Grofers)

Blinkit is an Indian online delivery service. It was initially known as Grofers. It was founded by Albinder Dhindsa and Saurabh Kumar in Gurgaon, India, in 2013. 

The primary feature of Blinkit is that users from their phones can use the application to order groceries and other essential deliveries online. 

This publicly listed food tech giant came under the Unicorn Club when Zomato acquired a 9.16% stake in the online grocery firm. The investment in Grofers is expected o bring back Zomato into the grocery segment.

Blinkit (Grofers) is officially now in the Unicorn club. It is one of the fastest-growing Indian startups.

CoinDCX

CoinDCX is Indias largest cryptocurrency exchange. It is an online application to buy and sell Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. 

It was founded by Sumit Gupta and Neeraj Khandelwal in 2018. 

Crypto exchange CoinDCX became the first crypto Unicorn in India. It came under the Unicorn Club after getting funding round from Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin’s B Capital Group. 

CoinDCx raised $90 million in a Series C funding round at a $1.1 billion valuation becoming, India’s first crypto exchange and one of the emerging Indian startups in 2021

Meesho

Meesho, an Indian e-commerce startup company from Bangalore, India. It is now part of the famous Unicorn Club. It was founded by IIT Delhi pass-outs Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal in 2015. 

Meesho plans to grow its Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) by 55%-60% to reach around $20 billion by 2025.

Since its time, this Indian startup company has come into existence, it has been flourishing well, becoming one of the top firms under the Unicorn Club in 2021.

upGrad

upGrad is India’s largest online education company. It has partnered with various esteemed universities and has enrolled in courses. It has become the third ed-tech company in India to be in the Unicorn Club. 

upGrad is a Mumbai-based startup that was founded by Mayank Kumar, Ronnie Screwvala, Phalgun Kompalli, and Ravijot Chugh with the motto to inspire online education for students. To date, it has claimed to enroll more than a million students. 

upGrad was listed under the Unicorn Club with a valuation of $1.2 billion. 

2021 has been a great year for Indian startups. It has seen various startups emerging and entering the Unicorn club. This year, many newfound creative ideas and innovations have come forward of success stories of Indian startups ahve proved as a motivational insight for many young aspiring minds.
